Born in 1970, Axel Dumas is a French billionaire heir and the sixth-generation descendant of Thierry Hermès, who founded the iconic luxury Maison in 1837. After a career in finance at Paribas, in Beijing and New York, Dumas joined Hermès in 2003. A graduate of Sciences Po Paris and Harvard Business School, he climbed through the ranks, holding key roles such as retail director for France, managing director of jewelry, and head of the leather goods division, Hermès’ most profitable segment.
Since becoming executive chairman in 2014, Dumas has masterfully balanced innovation and tradition, steering Hermès to record profitability and expanding its offerings into skincare and cosmetics.
