Titan opens its financial year with 40% revenue growth on jewellery strength
India's largest watch and jewellery group reported broad-based gains across its portfolio, led by continued premiumisation in jewellery and watches.
Titan, India's dominant jewellery and watch group and a Tata Group company, has reported around 40% revenue growth for the first quarter of its 2027 financial year, according to the Economic Times. The core jewellery business drove the bulk of the gain, while the watches division grew 21% to Rs 1,543 crore and eyewear grew 21% to Rs 289 crore, both supported by what the company described as continued premiumisation and stronger demand for analogue watches over smart alternatives.
The results also show momentum in Titan's newer, smaller bets. Emerging businesses, including Skinn fragrances, IRTH handbags and the ethnic wear brand Taneira, posted a combined 18% revenue increase to Rs 128 crore. Titan Engineering and Automation, an industrial subsidiary rather than a consumer brand, grew revenue 43% to Rs 438 crore, underlining that the group's diversification beyond jewellery is starting to contribute meaningfully rather than acting purely as an experiment.
For the wider luxury and premium goods sector, Titan's numbers offer a useful data point on Indian consumer demand at a time when many Western luxury houses are looking to India as a growth market to offset softness in China. Sustained double-digit growth in premium watches and eyewear, categories that are discretionary and price-sensitive, suggests Indian consumers are trading up rather than pulling back. Titan's scale and distribution reach make it a bellwether for how quickly that premiumisation trend is spreading beyond metropolitan India, and its performance will be watched closely by international brands weighing partnerships, franchise arrangements or standalone entry into the market.
